“I don’t wanna go outside,” Jazzie Young sings with melancholic beauty on her new single “Spaghetti Stains,” an ode to not bothering to change clothes because you’re locked down by the pandemic.
It’s the second single this year from the 26-year-old’s forthcoming EP and the follow-up to the atmospheric piano ballad “Lost.”
Music is in Young’s blood. She’s the daughter of folk singer Jesse Colin Young, author of the Youngbloods’ arrangement of the ’60s anthem, “Get Together.” She was born in Northern California, reared in Hawaii and South Carolina and schooled at the University of South Carolina. Now based in L.A., she recorded her EP at her father’s studio, built in the 1970s, in Marin County. Shawn Guess produced, and the song features Lewis Patzner’s mournful cello.
