■ Solitude is the theme of the seventh episode of LA Phil’s SOUND/STAGE from this past week. Music director and conductor Gustavo Dudamel expands on the theme with the orchestra playing Duke Ellington’s “Solitude” and a new work by Thomas Ádes, “Dawn,” written specifically for a physically distanced orchestra. “During the pandemic, finding solitude has become a more complicated endeavor. There’s either too much or too little, but no matter your circumstances, music offers a pathway to ‘taking back’ our souls and finding a moment of peace in a tumultuous time,” said Dudamel.
