Norwegian rocker Ida Maria has released just a handful of singles — none of which approached the ferocity of her early singles “Oh My God” and “I Like You So Much Better When You’re Naked” — since her 2016 album, “Scandalize My Name.” But the artist, born Ida Maria Børli Sivertsen, returned in a big way Friday with the single “Sick of You.”
Right down to the on-the-beat coughs, it’s the perfect punk-rock kiss-off for the year 2020. The song actually has its roots in 2014, when it was first recorded as an intended bonus track to Ida Maria’s “Accidental Happiness” EP. The new version was made with producer Ryan Spraker (Eli “Paperboy” Reed, the Glorious Sons, Bleached) in L.A.
Ida Maria, currently living in her hometown of Nesna, Norway, above the Artic Circle, is plotting the release of a new album in 2021.
