Andrekza

The multifaceted L.A. transplant and native Venezuelan Andrekza has released her latest single, “Ya Fue,” via Dim Mak’s newly established Latin imprint label called Dim Mak En Fuego. “Ya Fue” is the follow-up to her buzz-worthy debut single, “TÉ.”

The newly released tune was co-written by her Warner Chappell colleague, singer-songwriter Mimi Rose, and produced by Grammy-nominated producer, DJ Stylo Live, who has worked with the likes of Los Rakas, Maffio, Amara La Negra and Apache.

On top of a catchy reggaeton, low-tempo kick drum beat, Andrekza chimes in with her lush vocals expressing feelings about a not-so-perfect love, where mistakes are meant to happen and ignoring the consequences, even if it leads to heartbreak. It’s a simple song with a ninja-like chorus that can seep into your subconscious and have you humming the song later in the day when you least expect it.

“‘Ya Fue’ was the last song I added to my album and recently finished writing.” says Andrekza, born Andrekza Vásquez Yépez. “I had been longing to feel this story but thought about what we’re accustomed to or what we believe society says is ‘correct.’ If we mistakenly fall in love, then do we deserve the same karma as Adam and Eve? We think too much and stop feeling and flowing with our emotions — this is what I realized, which led to the melodies of this story. If you ‘messed up,’ it already happened (Ya Fue)! If you believe you’ll be criticized, it’s done (Ya Fue)! For me, life is about empowering our emotions and allowing ourselves to feel and live by them.”

The single was released with a self-directed music video along with cinematographer, Oliver Lanzenberg (Credits include: JLO and Gabriel Garzón-Montano) via her own production company, Lotus Visual Arts, which was also responsible for the production of Garzón-Montano’s music video for his single “Muñeca.” and about 100 other projects in the span of two years.

She is currently working on her debut album, “Cassette” — inspired by memories of her first cassette player and her eternal love for Japanese culture and anime.
