“Trouble” is the lead track off L.A. Edwards’ new EP, “Blessings From Home, Vol. 1,” due out Friday via Universal/Bitchin’ Music Group.

Formerly the solo project of singer-songwriter Luke Edwards, L.A. Edwards is now a quartet, joined by Luke’s brothers Harry and Jay, in addition to lead guitarist Alex Vo. Together, the four create California-tinted Americana freighted with earnestness and nostalgia.

“Blessings From Home, Vol. 1” was written pre-pandemic and is the follow-up to the 2018 LP “True Blue,” which was far more country-leaning. The new EP was recorded in Bear Creek Studio in Washington and was produced by Ryan Hadlock (Lumineers, Foo Fighters, Eric Clapton). The album features guest appearances from bassist Ron Blair and drummer Steve Ferrone of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

“Trouble,” is a tune that’s all about being bad, and forging ahead anyway, in spite of it. Luke Edwards told American Songwriter, “‘Trouble’ is a song about knowingly continuing to make bad decisions.” And the steady drums and storytelling prose, send you right back to the poor decisions we all made when we were young.

The second track and most recent single, “My Heart Broke” strikes all the right chords for an aching spirit. With powerful harmonica leads and subtle organ notes, “My Heart Broke” hits you right in the feels.

The second chapter of the band’s “Blessings From Home” series is expected early next year.
