Cadeaux translates to “gifts” in French, and it’s the name L.A. natives Briana Lane and Darian Zahedi have chosen for their new indie-pop collaboration.
Both bring their gifts to the new project — Lane is one-half of the pop duo Winslow, and Zahedi (who recently premiered his first solo music) plays in CRX behind Nick Valensi of the Strokes.
Cadeaux debuted with the single “Bad,” a song with a big, welcoming groove topped by Lane’s airy vocals. And a naughty streak a mile wide.
Director Brea Grant plays on the latter in her winking video, which stars Chloe Farnworth (the waitress), Barak Hardly (camp counselor), Matthew Price (the cowboy) and Brooke Seguin (the devil), as well as Lane and Zahedi.
The intent? “To show all the ways we are ‘bad’ through small acts of rebellion,” says Grant, whose recent work includes “12 Hour Shift” starring David Arquette and Angela Bettis. “These little moments can provide relief.”
Pass the cake.
