Ever since Greg Cahn and Ben Epand debuted their project KidEyes in late 2018, they’ve been meting out earnest pop-rock hopped up on hooks and emotion.
Their “KidEyes” EP arrived in the fall of 2019, and, pandemic be damned, they’ve tried to keep up the momentum with three singles (one a cover) this year. On the latest, “Don’t Hold Back,” the duo proselytizes for pushing forward in the face of dark and often downright-depressing circumstances.
“This song is about not wasting another breath, finding your life again and living it like never before,” the duo says. “Given the weight of the world right now, music can certainly heal, and as artists, this song is our way to try and contribute a small beacon of light and hope.”
The video takes Cahn and Epand to the beach, an apt setting for their positivity. It sure beats doom-scrolling.
