ONLINE FINDS:
■ Meshell Ndegeocello self-recorded and filmed her recent Tiny Desk (Home) Concert with her longtime guitarist Chris Bruce. Her new project is an educational kit on her website for anti-racism based around the writings of James Baldwin in “The Fire Next Time.” She begins her haunting set with a spoken-word version of her song “Step Into the Projects,” from her 1993 debut album, “Plantation Lullabies.” “Price of the Ticket” follows from “Chapter & Verse: The Gospel of James Baldwin,” followed by “Forget My Name” from her 2014 full-length “Comet Come To Me” and “Fool of Me” from her 1999 album, “Bitter.”
■ Multi-instrumentalist-singer-songwriter-producer Orion Sun recently featured on Dr. Marten’s musician spotlight series. The Philadelphia-based artist released two albums last year, her debut, the self-distributed “A Collection of Fleeting Moments and Daydreams” and “Hold Space For Me” via Mom+Pop. In the profile, she talks about getting through the isolation of the pandemic lockdown. In her live set, she shares the songs “Lightning,” “Holy Water” and “Birds Gave Up” from her latest album.
