Few bands create a mythology around their music like Lord Huron, makers of sepia-toned folk-rock and heroes of Old West fever dreams.

Led by singer-songwriter Ben Schneider, the band today announced the May 21 arrival of their fourth full-length, “Long Lost.” The news followed the February release of “Not Dead Yet,” as well as Thursday night’s episode of the quartet’s “Alive From Whispering Pines” livestream series. (Final episode is April 15; info here. Sample their performance of “Frozen Pines” from the series here.)

“Mine Forever” is the sweeping, drenched-in-romance new single, possibly as swoon-worthy as anything Lord Huron has done, which is saying something. Like everything Lord Huron has done, it seems beamed in from yesteryear, although not one specific moment from the past.

Speaking of which, the possibly fictional, white-hatted character who inhabits Whispering Pine studio, Tubbs Tarbell, wrote a note about Lord Huron’s exploits. Fans of the livestream series are familiar with Mr. Tarbell and his catchphrase, “May you live until you die.” He has apparently tried to unpack a lot of the mystery surrounding Lord Huron by penning this note. Kinda makes you wanna tune in next time.
