Highlighting three new singles that arrived on Friday — from Kate Clover, Possible Oceans and Nightjacket.
KATE CLOVER, “Love You to Death”
Last fall, Kate Clover released the 2020 remix of her killer single “Channel Zero,” and last month unveiled this episode of “Channel Zero TV,” in which she previews the whole EP. “Love You to Death” is the second single from the EP, and it’s another hard-charging rocker recalling the days of first-wave punk. “Channel Zero,” the EP, is due May 14.
POSSIBLE OCEANS, “Nothing’s Shocking”
The follow-up to “Blood in the Water,” “Nothing’s Shocking,” is the latest from songwriter Trevor O’Neill’s solo project, Possible Oceans. A nervous, groove-driven rocker that was made in “the fog of the pandemic,” the song “is an especially big deal for me because I wrote it to help myself push through these incredibly difficult times,” O’Neill says. “And my hope is that it brings a bit of encouragement for all of you, too.”
NIGHTJACKET, “Just a Little”
It’s been over nine months since Nightjacket dropped “Lonely Archer,” but the dream-pop quintet returns with “Just a Little,” the second single from their new EP “Following the Curves,” out May 21. There’s a Sundays-meets-Mazzy Star vibe on this new song, which singer Andrea Wasse says captures the feeling of being “lost in a daydream, hiding out in the midst of the hustle and bustle of a pre-pandemic world, hoping that someone will keep still for just long enough to catch up to them.”
