KOLARS, the explosive husband-and-wife duo that spun out of folk ensemble He’s My Brother She’s My Sister four years ago, are splitting up.
The announcement from singer-guitarist Rob Kolar and dancing drummer Lauren Brown came Monday on social media It read:
We want to update all of you and announce that Lauren is leaving Rob and KOLARS to pursue other adventures and continue her own drumming career. We both wrote personal messages about the announcement …
Lauren: I am forever grateful for the experience, for the love and for the joy I had while being a part of this project. Here’s to great times ahead for us all.
Rob: It is very hard to say goodbye to a best friend, wife, creative partner and bandmate. There was an electric chemistry we had together in KOLARS that I have never felt in any other creative project. I will always cherish that. Though the news utterly breaks my heart, I wish her so much love and success with everything she does moving forward.
KOLARS will be releasing new music featuring Rob and Lauren but the two will not be touring together for the foreseeable future. Rob will continue to write, record, collaborate and produce new music and Lauren will continue to drum, collaborate and produce creative projects as Lauren Brown.
Thank you thank you thank YOU ALL so much for the incredible support. We adore our fans. We were able to build this project and self-managed this band without a label thanks to the support of all of you. Those that came and saw us live, bought our records and met us after shows, thank you for helping make our dreams come to life. We are excited to share new music with you and look forward to connecting with you in our new incarnations.
Lots of love,
Rob & Lauren
KOLARS released one full-length during their run, and were better known as captivating live act.
Brown performed as part of Joy Downer’s band (which also included Beck on bass) on “The Late Late Show with James Corden” on Monday night.
