The finish line is now in sight, and Mating Ritual might dance all the way to it.

The brother duo of Ryan Marshall Lawhon and Taylor Lawhon this week announced that their new album, “Songs for the Morning and Evening Times,” will be out Aug. 27. It will fulfill Mating Ritual’s goal, set way back when, of releasing five albums in five years — an almost outlandish feat in today’s industry and remarkable when you consider that the first album, 2017’s “How You Gonna Stop It?,” took nearly three years itself to complete.

Appropriately, the new single that accompanied the news is “Old Disco,” a typically infectious dance-rocker co-written by Sean Van Vleet (NVDES, Empires) and co-produced by Chris Zane (Passion Pit, St. Lucia). Says Ryan: “[It’s] about feeling like you’re the last one doing something, with no idea of what comes next.”
