Cape Weather

L.A. duo Cape Weather — Natalie Smith and Eric Jackowitz — make graceful, literate indie-pop. Imbued with strong melodies, the songs are carried by Smith’s intimate, plaintive vocals that recall the engaging nonchalance of Aimee Mann.

The new single “Alice” introduces “Hunny Vol. 1,” the first of three EPs that Cape Weather plans to release in 2021. It boasts a billowing chorus that feels like a wraparound hug — just what the duo was going for after a year-plus of the pandemic.

“I was struggling and I saw so many others struggling,” Smith says. “I felt an urgent need to write something for both them and myself, something that just shouted, ‘You’re gonna get through this.’”

The single is accompanied by a video that Natalie made while on a road trip around the time of writing these songs.
