Desert Daze to mount three-day, one-stage festival at Lake Perris on Nov. 12-14

After initially saying Desert Daze would merely be a concert series in 2021, promoters today announced that the festival will return to Moreno Beach at Lake Perris for a three-day event, Nov. 12-14. The War on Drugs, Kamasi Washington, Toro Y Moi and Japanese Breakfast will headline.

This spring, it looked as if Desert Daze, scotched in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, would forgo staging a large outdoor gathering this year as well. Instead, the festival will go big — although not as big as in years past.

This year’s affair will feature just one stage, with eight acts performing per day, and limited capacity. Art installations will populate the rest of the grounds.

“It’s been a long year-plus away from the Desert Daze community and we are really excited about seeing the people that make this event so special, and seeing this beautiful, multi-faceted lineup at the lake,” said Phil Pirrone, Desert Daze founder and curator.

As in the past, camping will be available for festival-goers. Tickets are $225 ($75 for single-day passes) and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday.

Besides the headliners, the festival will feature the likes of Devendra Banhart, Andy Shauf, Tim Heidecker & Weyes Blood, Crumb, Yves Tumor, Ty Segall, The Black Angels, DIIV, Kikagaku Moyo, The Budos Band, Moon Duo, Sudan Archives, Deap Vally, La Luz, Sasami, Crack Cloud, Spellling, Pachyman, JJUUJJUU and Geese.

It will be the only 2021 show for the War on Drugs, who this week announced that they will release a new album, “I Don’t Live Here Anymore,” on Oct. 29.
