Back in May, L.A. trio MUNA signed to singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers’ new label, Saddest Factory, for $10 million. Wink. The band — Katie Gavin, Naomi McPherson and Josette Maskin — was coming off its strong debut album, “About U” (2017), and even stronger sophomore effort, “Saves the World” (2019).

Now comes the first single from the new alliance, “Silk Chiffon,” which features Bridgers (of course), who it seems has been everywhere since “Stranger in the Alps” made her everybody’s pal in 2017.

The new single is “a song for kids to have their first gay kiss to,” says producer-guitarist McPherson. It’s worth a hug, at the very least, and light to the touch. Ally Pankiw directed the video and there are cheerleaders.

MUNA starts a U.S. tour supporting Bridgers tonight, and in the new year the trio will tour with Kacey Musgraves, with an L.A. date in February.
