Glass Animals, Kaytranada, Big Freedia, Griz, Chet Faker, Purity Ring, Four Tet and Little Simz will highlight the lineup when the Lightning in a Bottle festival returns from a two-year live hiatus next May at Buena Vista Lake in Kern County.

Many of the artists — such as Kaytrananda, Purity Ring, Four Tet and Empress Of — were scheduled to play the 2020 LiB, which, of course, was scotched by the pandemic. In 2020, promoters the DoLab pivoted to stage a digital festival. With things marching back toward normal, LiB returns to the lake at Buena Vista Recreation Area (the new home it adopted in 2019) for five days, May 25-30.

The cross-genre panoply will be even more diverse than in the past, but some staples of LiBs past remain: Desert Hearts’ launch party on Day 1, the gang of Woogie Stage favorites, camping and the festival’s array of lifestyle activities.

New to the festival this year will be an additional day of programming at the Woogie Stage; a new attraction for house and techno artists called the Junk Yard (staged on a mobile “art car” that has been a feature at Burning Man); and the new boutique camping offering, Atlaswyld, featuring glamping options.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday.
