Video: Girlpool, ‘Faultline’

Girlpool, the duo of Avery Tucker and Harmony Tividad, have returned with a blissful new single, “Faultline,” along with a Julian Klincewicz-directed video that sees Tividad sprouting angel wings and taking flight over Los Angeles.

It’s just the duo’s second release since their 2019 album, “What Chaos Is Imaginary.” Last year, Girlpool checked in with the riveting, provocative banger, “Like I’m Winning It.”

Of the new song, Tividad says, “The ‘Faultline’ represents everything you do as a means of escape that pushes you further into the very thing you’re escaping.”

It’s hard not to think of the pandemic when Tividad sings, “I live at this faultline / Between the edge of solitude and hope” — and what that solitude might inflict on relationships. “I gave you everything and then some more / Left you with nothing to be looking for,” she declares later.
