Stream: The Simps, ‘Tesla’

The Simps — the collaboration between Eyedress and Zzzahara — began in 2018 when the pair met after a show, began jamming and the latter joining Eyedress’ live band. They debuted with “Miss Fortunate” in 2019 before striking a chord with “On Fye,” a post-punk song adrift in a sea of lo-fi charm.

Eyedress and Zzzahara — real names Idris Vicuña and Zahara Jaime — returned this week with “Tesla,” a song with a similar vibe. It’s the first single from the Simps’ full-length, “Siblings,” out March 14 via Lex Records, the label that has released all four Eyedress albums (including last year’s “Mulholland Drive”).

“Tesla” is a blissed-out ride, driving itself with an urgent bass line but slowing down to enjoy the view.
