Rounding up three new singles released this week — check out the latest from Kid Bloom, Mystic Braves and Charming Liars.
KID BLOOM, “I Fell in Love Again”
“I Fell in Love Again” is the fourth single from songwriter Lennon Kloser’s project Kid Bloom since his 2020 EP, “Blood Sugar.” Like last November’s “Like I Never Left,” it’s awash in ’80s-styled synths and atmospheric vocals. There’s a sweet soft-rock guitar solo, too, all in support of Kid Bloom’s can-be-read-two-ways musings on love. This song, the songwriter points out, “is about falling in love with yourself and the happiness that comes along with it.” Kid Bloom opens for Bad Suns on Feb. 2 at the Fonda Theatre.
MYSTIC BRAVES, “Hanging On”
The follow-up to last November’s “Lonely Heart,” “Hanging On” is the latest from L.A. psych-pop outfit Mystic Braves. It’s the second single from the band’s fifth album, “Pacific Afterglow,” made with producer Kyle Mullarky (Babe Rainbow, Allah Las, The Growlers) and arriving later this year. The tune arrived with a road-trippy video directed by Emmanuel Rosario.
CHARMING LIARS, “Wreck It All”
After a big 2019 that saw L.A. rockers Charming Liars release their debut album, “Thought, Flesh and Bone,” and a 2020 spent restlessly enduring the pandemic, the band bounced back with twin EPs last year, “Sequence 1: Noise Maker” and “Sequence 2: The After.” The trio of Kiliyan Maguire, Karnig Manoukian and Mike Kruger charge into 2022 with typical urgency: Their new single “Wreck It All” showcases their proclivity for making outsized rock ’n’ roll. Meat and potatoes, please.
