There’s pressure, and then there’s the angst of holy-crap-I’m-homeless-and-we-just-fell-into-a-pandemic.

The latter is the situation in which Creature Canyon lead singer Austin Steele found himself after a breakup in early 2020. It inspired the new disco-rocker, “Pressure,” released Friday as the band’s first original song since their jumbo-sized EP, “Did You Want That,” in 2018.

It’s a footloose tune meant to dance the trauma away that the band — Steele, along with Ryan Amot, Kyle Victoria, Aaron Lund and Luc Fralic — made with producer Christian Lum (Private Island).

“Our song ‘Pressure’ is about recognizing destructive patterns in your life and the struggle it takes to break free of them, with fear and doubt clouding your judgment,” the band says. “Our hope is to empower and inspire the listener to realize they have the strength to overcome whatever difficult situation they may be facing, while also inspiring them to hit the dance floor.”

Visual artist/musician Elise Trouw directed the video.
