Here’s a trio of pop singles from artists who have new albums arriving in the next month: Cannons, the Regrettes and Wallows

CANNONS, “Hurricane”

Cannons, the L.A. trio of Michelle Joy, Ryan Clapham and Paul Davis, are reloading their arsenal of sultry, sleek electro-pop. It was 2019 when they released their second album, “Shadows,” highlighted by the singles “Fire for You” and “Talk Talk.” They’ve moved up to Columbia Records for their third full-length, “Fever Dream” (out March 25), whose calling card is the gravity-defying single “Bad Dream,” released last spring. As for the new single, whistle softly while Joy coos, “I can bring the thunder and the rain.” (Like Tuesday’s show at the El Rey was, Cannons’ date April 15 at the Constellation Room is sold out.)

THE REGRETTES, “That’s What Makes Me Love You”

The Regrettes have swallowed the pop pill, and … well … whatever. The formerly electric pop-punk/garage-rock band today announced that their third album, “Further Joy,” would be out via Warner Records on April 8, in time for their festival gigs at Coachella and Bonnaroo (and an April 18 show with Wallows at the Fox Theater Pomona). The album, conceived on a 10-day writing retreat in Joshua Tree in January 2021, was made with producers Jacknife Lee and Tim Pagnotta. The new single “That’s What Makes Me Love You” follows the February release, “You’re So Fucking Pretty,” and last fall’s edgy rocker “Monday,” both of which appear on the new album. Soon, Regrettes’ fans will know every word.

WALLOWS, “At the End of the Day”

The follow-up to “Especially You,” “At the End of the Day” is the latest single from Wallows’ sophomore album “Tell Me That It’s Over,” made with Grammy-winning producer Ariel Rechtshaid and releasing March 25. The new single is dreamy, synth-spangled confessional in which main man Dylan Minette sings about being the good guy. “‘At the End of the Day’ is about being very invested in a relationship with someone and fearing it may ultimately be doomed, but you just want that person to be happy no matter what,” he says. In between weekends playing at Coachella, Wallows headlines the Fox Theater Pomona on April 18.
