Video: Auditorium, ‘Sunday’

Three questions about Auditorium and the video for “Sunday”:
Auditorium sounds familiar — have I heard them before? It depends on how good your memory is. Queens native Spencer Berger, a Vassar College grad and onetime member of the Metropolitan Opera’s Children’s Chorus, debuted his folk project over a decade ago. Berger can really sing. Along the way, he’s released two albums, 2011’s “Be Brave” and 2017’s “The First Music,” along with an EP. “Fire Fire Ocean Liner,” “Mt. Moriah,” “My Grandfather Could Make the Whole World Sing” and “The Sex Offenders” are evidence: Berger can really sing. To think we once saw him at the Silverlake Lounge.
Isn’t “Sunday” a song that is 10 years old? A keen observation. Berger solicited Ben Barnes — who did two previous Auditorium videos — to make a video for the song in advance of the release of the 10-year-anniversary deluxe release of “Be Brave.” It releases April 8.
Is the future always dystopian? Have you looked at the headlines lately? Maybe that’s why the lad in the video (Trace Talbot) is searching for artifacts from happier times. But there is hope … if you stay for the puppy at the end.
