Stream: Cold Showers, ‘How Do You Know This Love’ (feat. Lil B)

L.A.’s Cold Showers have been lurking on the darker edges of post-punk for more than a decade now, long enough to author three full-lengths and give local audiences a little taste of homegrown Madchester.

Today they returned with the first single since their 2019 album “Motionless.” Propelled by a bass line that follows you around like a shadow, “How Do You Know This Love” features raw spoken-word interludes from rapper Lil B.

It’s the lead song on “Strength in Numbers,” the new EP the band will release June 11 via Dais Records.

The EP was made during the pandemic after frontman Jonathan Weil proposed that the band escape the claustrophobia of lockdown — so they decamped to Joshua Tree, rented a house, set up shop and wrote songs collectively. “The world seemed so bleak that making something lighter felt right,” guitarist Chris King says of the new batch of five songs.
