Grammy winners Thundercat and Arooj Aftab are among the highlights of this year’s Summer Happenings series at the Broad, marking the return of live programming to the downtown L.A museum for the first time in three years.

Tickets for the series include after-hours access to the Broad and its exhibitions, as well as the performances that place throughout the museum and on the adjacent East West Bank Plaza.

The July installment will feature Thundercat (supported by Ginger Root) performing a live set in conjunction with the exhibition “Takashi Murakami: Stepping on the Tail of a Rainbow.”

The June, August and September editions of Summer Happenings comprise the “Now We’re Here” series, the artists spanning pop, neo-Sufi jazz minimalism, short films, electronic music and rap. The series reflects on the Broad’s special exhibition “This Is Not America’s Flag,” which examines and questions the complex meanings and symbolism of the U.S. flag, citizenship and national identity.

The programming runs from 8 to 11 p.m. each night. The schedule, with ticket links:
