L.A. duo They Kiss — Anna Makovchik and Francesco Civetta (aka Cash) — debuted in 2020 with a pair of singles — both kind of a first-kiss introduction to their seductive synth-pop.
They also wrote songs for the 2021 film “The Gateway,” and the creative chemistry the duo found — magnified by being homebodies during the COVID-19 lockdown — picked up steam. Accelerated by work with co-writers such as Arthur Delaney and Dom Goldsmith (Hælos), Alexander Dexter-Jones, Alex Carapetis (The Voidz), Skrobat and Makovchik’s former Kiwi Time bandmate Yoga Shyp, They Kiss soon had an album’s worth of tunes.
That album, “Feeling With You,” produced with Mikalai Skrobat (who worked on Kanye West’s Grammy-winning “Donda”), will be out Aug. 26.
The title track checks in as an icy monument to first-wave synth-pop greats and their global reach. “I want people to have a sense of joy, a sense of freedom when they listen,” Makovchik says the album. “Freedom to express what they feel without feeling like being in a box or worrying about what’s popular. Put aside all of these thoughts and just dance.”
You may commence.
