“Scorekeeper,” the new single from singer-songwriter Sharon Silva, is a song for those moments life is coming at you too fast — when it’s time to press pause, even if doing so leaves you uncomfortably vulnerable.
Following last summer’s “Spitting Image,” it’s the second release from Silva, who like her singing cohorts in the Wild Reeds, MacKenzie Howe (aka Pet Dress) Kinsey Lee (aka Dr. Kinsey) have branched out to solo projects.
“I wrote ‘Scorekeeper’ on a walk through my neighborhood, thinking about how to take responsibility for my own emotions,” Silva says. “It’s not easy to explain how you feel when you’re overstimulated, and I think this song helped me scratch the surface of how to take a beat, on my own, and organize my thoughts.”
Boasting sublime harmonies and a confessionalist’s shade to her vocals, “Scorekeeper” features Silva backed by a cast of L.A. all-stars: Christian Lee Hutson, Harrison Whitford, Thomas Berg and Julian Harmon. It’s produced by Ryan Pollie, with whom the singer-songwriter recently finished recording an album. Stay tuned.
