Hunter Hunted

With the exception of an election-year song and a holiday single, L.A. indie-pop duo Hunter Hunted have largely been on the sidelines since releasing their album “Ready for You” in 2015. “We took a break from making music and started making babies,” they quip on Instagram.

Arriving ahead of Father’s Day, the duo — Michael Garner and Dan Chang — release the video for their new single “Boy,” a heart-warmer about the joys, promise and trepidation of parenthood. Their lads, Charlie and Pax, star and friends of Hunter Hunted also sent the duo video clips of their dad moments.

The song — “a return to our harmony-centric roots,” they say — recalls the early days of Hunter Hunted and the project that preceded it, Lady Danville. That trio was actually born out of college friendships forged in UCLA’s Awaken A Cappella ensemble. As they carried on with more modern production as Hunter Hunted, Garner and Chang could always hit the right notes. Here, they do so in a sweet bit of of “dad pop.”

“Boy” is officially out on July 1.
