Second-generation rocker Grace McKagan’s new single “K-Town” is an old-school rocker that qualifies as mindless good fun — I mean, what’s not to like? There’s a filthy bass line, a story about driving to Koreatown (and trying to find parking and getting stranded there) and his/her vocals, the male half provided by Boots Electric (aka Jesse Hughes of Eagles of Death Metal). And course there is the Gavin Gottlich-directed video starring: a vintage Mustang; motorcycles (again); Hughes hilariously wearing an Evel Knievel outfit; and McKagan and her sister Mae (a model) both properly dolled up. It’s worth it, after the party is in full rage, to hear Boots Electric coo, “Hey … You work out?”
“Jesse Hughes and I wrote this song over quarantine,” McKagan says. “It was a process of sending different versions back to one another. Jesse has always been one of my absolute favorite modern frontmen and inspirations, both sonically and performance-wise. Being able to build a special friendship with Jesse and create has been a dream come true… Sixteen-year-old me is screaming!”
