Louis Cole has the moves. And he has the grooves. And he has the attitude.

“I give a f*ck / and don’t give a f*ck / that is why I’m tight,” the singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer and funky falsettist declares on his new song, “I’m Tight.” A perfect self-portrait, in one verse.

The irrepressible jam introduces Cole’s new album, “Quality Over Opinion,” out Oct. 14 via Brainfeeder. In addition to its advertised quality, the album has quantity. Over 20 (!) tracks, guests such as Genevieve Artadi (Cole’s collaborator in Knower), saxophonist Sam Gendel, pianist Chris Fishman, Nate Wood (of Kneebody), Marlon Mackey and guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel appear.

The follow-up to “Let It Happen,” “I’m Tight” never wears out its welcome over seven minutes. It’s that bass, of course. “It comes from me recording about 100 different cells of funk, choosing my favorite ones and quilting them together into a song,” Cole says. “I had to practice the bass part a lot for this one.”

As for the video, it’s quite a feat of choreography, as Artadi, Dyasono, Loren Battley and Fuensanta join Cole in coining a handful of new dance moves. Thanks to the subtitles, they are all named, and it’s hard to pick a favorite. Maybe “Wilder Life?” Go ahead, try this at home.
