Singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and guitar wiz Scott Goldbaum has worked with the likes of Sting, LAUV, Keith Urban, Skylar Grey, Charlotte Lawrence and Maddie Poppe, among many others. But before he became an in-demand side player and collaborator, Goldbaum was a driving force in a couple of indie outfits who were on hot-band lists, Forebear and Wise Cub.
“Drive Too Fast” is Goldbaum’s first release since Forebear went away more than five years ago. It’s a cautionary tale about the pace of life, a lush tune with wondrous intricacies: Goldbaum’s bright vocals, the anxious line played by Kaveh Rastegar on upright bass, Kiel Feher’s equally restless percussion and the strings played by Goldbaum’s wife, Molly Rogers (herself an in-demand violinist and violist).
It’s the first single from Goldbaum’s EP, “Protector,” arriving this fall. The EP, the songwriter says, follows a vulnerable character who’s in need of protection as he becomes the protector of others.
Animator Britt Devandry did the nifty visuals for the first single.
Stay tuned for more.
