FIDLAR roared back in August with “FSU,” sounding like the guys who’d just slashed your tires. With “Sand on the Beach,” they’ve switched to their nice-skate-kids-down-the-block persona — you know, the gang you wave at from your front yard as they fly by doing their tricks. Maybe they flip you off the moment you’ve turned your back, but whatever.
The new single is the second from a Dave Sardy-produced EP — the follow-up to 2019’s album, “Almost Free” — that will arrive early next year.
Meanwhile, longtime FIDLAR collaborator Ryan Baxley is back to direct a video for “Sand on the Beach,” and it’s a hoot. Melodrama, bad wigs, White Claw … what’s not to like? As Zac Carper sings, “I think that we should get tropical.”
