Ears Wide Open: Shaki Tavi

Shaki Tavi

Shaki Tavi is a shoegaze outfit that metes out ethereal beauty in all its dissonant, occasionally deafening languor.

Fronted by Leon Mosburg, the band shares members with Clear Capsule and others populating the underground scene around the Non Plus Ultra collective. In advance of Friday’s release of their self-titled album via Mutation Records (Vinyl Williams, HOTT MT), they’ve released two singles. “Hopeless // Devoted” lays out sheets of majestic, slashing guitars to catch all the ennui Mosburg is dripping. The latest release, “Crime,” is more dialed back and features vocal contributions from Emma Maatman of Dummy.

Shaki Tavi have the dynamics down: They sting, they soothe and ultimately they satisfy.
