Singer-songwriter Emily James, who also self-produces her own music, is yet again making strides in the alternative pop scene with her latest single, “Lovely Enough.” Her grandiose voice shines in this sweet tune, which will be featured on her forthcoming EP, “Grey” (her second via Nettwerk Music Group), out June 23.
Directly speaking to the pressures of being a woman, James wrote “Lovely Enough” as a gentle reminder that oneself comes first, “It’s very easy to go down a destructive path when you are so focused on pleasing everyone by trying to be the ‘perfect’ version of yourself and end up losing your true self in the process.” The track was intentionally released on the final day of Women’s History Month and thoughtfully completes the sentiment.
The new song is the follow-up to “Happy for Me,” an upbeat pop tune that delves into seeking true happiness in the moment, triumphantly breaking through anxieties and ruminations. The colorful champagne & tea-party video was directed and edited by James herself with cinematography by Ryan Blewett and color by Sarah London.
