Two albums in, L.A. emo quartet Sad Park seems to have dialed in their sound, which might be described as a catchy, candid, high-speed bummerdom mixed with clear-eyed hope.
The band — Graham Steele, Sam Morton, Grant Bubar and Aidan Memory — today announced that their third album, “No More Sound,” would be out July 7 via Pure Noise Records. The album was made with producer Sean Bonnette of AJJ, with whom Sad Park will tour in August.
The album’s first shot of adrenaline is “Always Around,” and director Ryan Baxley’s video keeps up with its stinging guitars as the band kills time in somebody’s backyard. “Life is a gamble / Put it all on love / I’m betting on trust / Betting on all you people,” Steele declares.
“‘Always Around’ is about wanting to get the most out of life, making sure that you are appreciating and loving the things and people around you,” the band says. “Accepting the hard times, pushing through and recognizing them as formative moments to appreciate and grow from.”
