Monogem fully embraced her Mexican American heritage with her acclaimed 2021 bilingual album “Gardenia.” “Feeling Myself,” her first solo single since, reinforces the notion that identity is not a static thing.

“After a global pandemic, releasing my debut bilingual album and becoming a mother for the first time, it was easy to lose my identity,” the R&B singer says. “I want to celebrate the feeling of loving yourself again in a way that feels like a homecoming or an arrival into one’s self. This song is my homecoming; I’ve never felt more like myself and at home in my own body. I want my listeners to feel confident and comfortable with who they are.”

Mekael Dawson directs the lavish video for the track, which features fashion and styling from the OLIMA Studio (known for work with artists such as Lady Gaga, Grimes, Gwen Stefani, SZA, Banks and Beyoncé, among others).

The song was written with Alida, Ben Silverstein (aka Smile High) and Noah Gold (aka Bluf).
