Jesse Malin paralyzed after spinal injury; fundraising campaign to assist him under way

Friends, family and fellow musicians are rallying behind singer-songwriter Jesse Malin, who is hospitalized in New York after suffering a spinal injury that has left the 56-year-old paralyzed from the waist down.

Malin, author of 15 solo albums, suffered a rare spinal stroke on May 4 and figures to have expenses beyond what his insurance will cover. The Sweet Relief Musicians Fund has set up a campaign to benefit Malin, who himself has been involved in myriad charitable efforts over the years.
