L.A. quartet Bebopalula holes up at Henson Studios in the “making-of” video for “Grey Won’t Rain,” their first release since the self-titled album that arrived in the spring of 2020.
Imbued with the spirit of the ’60s but artfully dodging cookie-cutter formulas, that album was on par with some of power-pop’s sophisticates (the great Jellyfish comes to mind). “Grey Won’t Rain” is no different, with cascading harmonies parting the clouds.
The band — Alex Jules, Ben Lecourt, Chris Price and Emeen Zarookian — is joined on acoustic guitar by George Drakoulias on the new single, which is officially out Friday. No news yet of an album, but Bebopalula promise that there’s more fresh music on the way.
