Stream: BEL, ‘Forget Everything’

The latest single from BEL — the musical moniker of Isabel Whelan — waxes wishfully about turning back the hands of time. It’s also a cautionary tale suggesting one should think twice before trying to move a relationship out of the friend zone.
The dreamy, surging indie-rocker “Forget Everything” was co-written with and produced by Jackson Phillips (Day Wave). It’s BEL’s fourth single of 2023 as the singer-songwriter dips between indie-rock and alt-pop, working with various producers and co-writers and building on the momentum of her sophomore EP, “Jet Lag,” released last year.
Of the new single, BEL says: “It’s about developing and acting on feelings for a friend and the aftermath of it. It’s me realizing my relationship with that person will never be the same and wishing we could forget it all and go back to the way we were before.”
