Buzz Bands LA is going on hiatus, effective Jan. 4, 2024.
After 15 years and 20,000 or so blog posts, I am taking some time to recalibrate, consider the future of this site (if there is one), mind my health and contemplate what a person of retirement age should be doing in his retirement.
I will continue to compile L.A.-centric new music playlists on Spotify. I will continue to post information about the L.A. Buzz Bands Show that airs Sunday nights on 88.5 The SoCal Sound. Please watch Buzz Bands LA’s Facebook, Instagram/Threads and X/Twitter feeds for bulletins about those and other updates.
Business inquiries, general queries and snarky missives may be directed to kevin (at) buzzbands (dot) la.
As always, thanks for reading and listening,

You are the GOAT in the LA music scene. Thanks Kevin.
16 years ago you gave me a reason to get off my sofa and out the door to see live music in a music scene i really was unaware of…i remember the exact date and show (wonder how i know this..you can likely guess) Great Northern at The Echo May 15, 2007 and it was free or so your blog said and it was. i had no idea what the echo was or where. heck i couldn’t find it when i got there. But that was oh so many nights ago and thousands of bands ago. I no longer go out as often and so glad we shared some time and talk recently at the lodge room. the blog will be missed, i hope our paths cross so i can find out if you can still turn on a fastball.

best to you always
I miss the weekly LA show calendar. Also, loved reading the comments. I too loved Great Northern too. The mid-to-late aughts was the highpoint for eastsider culture.
