Kyle Wilkerson, most recently a member of the team at L.A. concert promoters Spaceland Presents, has been named talent buyer at the Bootleg Theater.
The Beverly Boulevard venue recently ended its six-year relationship with long-running live music promoter The Fold.
Wilkerson has been a junior talent buyer for Spaceland venues the Echo, Echoplex and Regent Theater since 2011, booking acts such as Cursive, Talib Kweli, Drive-By Truckers, Girlpool, the Good Life, Thurston Moore and Sebadoh and helping launch the Echoplex’s popular Taking Back Tuesday emo nights. He began his career working for promoting giant C3 Presents in Austin, before moving to L.A. in 2009 and working with venues such as Club Nokia and the Wiltern Theatre.
While the venue’s theatrical and dance offerings remain ongoing, the Bootleg’s music rooms are expected to be dark the next few weeks while the venue makes some internal changes.
Great work this Austin guy has done since his move to LA!
