Stream: Vōx, ‘Put The Poison In Me’

The previous work that Los Angeles-based artist Sarah Winters, who records under the moniker vōx, has shared have fused her booming, modulated voice with darker electronic production, but on her latest track, she strips it all back. Reduced to just a piano and her vox, vōx spins a simple and stirring story on “Put The Poison In Me,” the keys punctuating the heartbreak as she delicately sings, “Put the poison in me / Pop the cork and dig deep / Used to share but you’ve seen / You’re no good for me.” It was produced by frequent collaborator Josiah Kosier, and has produced proof of Winters’ talent, who certainly doesn’t need any help of any program to sound dynamic. In addition to early singles “Better” and “Money,” “Put The Poison In Me” will also be a part of her debut, self-titled EP via Turntable Kitchen, as well as the yet-to-be-released track “Mayans.”
