Alge, the Los Angeles-based project of artist Jon Weinman, has released a handful of tracks this year, each one furthering his production palette of downtempo R&B grooves, such as the modulation on “Truth or Diamonds” and the tropical flourishes on “My Daughter’s Living Room.” His newest, “The Comedown,” is no exception, expanding his sound with mellow sax tones and a warm atmosphere that swirls with synth-y ebbs and flows, as he croons, “Close my eyes and reach for an answer / Lose me now while I play a dancer true / Trying to build a foundation / That could hold a love that will save me / So if you call me, baby, I’ll answer / I’ll come down from my ledge and dance for you.” In the coming weeks, Weinman plans to release another single, a music video, and ultimately the debut Alge EP entitled “Diamond Inseams,” with a live debut in the works for the fall.
