Video: Gavin Turek, ‘Don’t Fight It’

If there’s a magical way to simply dance yourself back to 1978, Gavin Turek is going to find it. The L.A. disco queen with the big smile and bold moves has released some hot stuff in 2015, including April’s double-barreled single “Front Line” b/w “Don’t Fight It.” They’re both party-starters, and Turek followed up last month with Tokimonsta and StarRo remixes, and then this week with “Hemisphere,” a collaboration with Tokimonsta. “Front Line” arrived via IHC 1INFINITY, an imprint that sees Franki Chan’s IHEARTCOMIX getting back into the label business for the first time since 2009. Chan (née Franklin Hartzell) himself directs the new music video for Turek’s “Don’t Fight It,” an upbeat nod to ensemble teen movies that is meant as follow-up to the video for “Hyper Real” by another IHC artist, Pictureplane. It features Turek along with Alex Essoe, Sasha Morfaw, Michael Borne, Jamil Baldwin and Christian Grey, and, yes, it makes us want to get away for the weekend.
