Video: Harriet Brown, ‘MBC’

In his persona as Harriet Brown, Aaron Valenzuela creates funky-fresh, falsetto-friendly electro-pop and cultivates a look that could be described as Edith Head-meets-’80s pop kid. He’s won over just about every L.A. audience he’s faced, singing and playing guitar over backing tracks, and his “New Era” EP in late 2014 and February’s single “20/15” displayed a voice that can seemingly leap tall buildings in a single bound. And so it is with his pinball machine of a new single “MBC,” made with producer Alex Talan of Rare Times and part of an album he is finishing up. Even with the annoying smattering of lyrics that appear, director Jazmin Garcia’s video for the song nails it. Rooftop party, small group of friends, sky-high voice, guitar freakout at the end. Harriet Brown is offering the single for free download via Soundcloud as well.
