Quite a night for concerts, if you’re warming up your Coachella ears. Me, I’m thinking parking is going to be a bear in downtown Pomona, with Vampire Weekend (Fox Theater) and Deerhunter (the Glass House) play about one block apart. … Closer to Buzz Bands HQ, two shows with amazingly deep lineups vie for our attention. At the Echo, the Ruby Suns [download] visit from New Zealand, supported by Toro y Moi and Pepper Rabbit. Toro Y Moi’s Chaz Bundick [pictured] has stirred up quite a buzz with his February release “Causers of This,” a fuzzy fusion of pop, soul and dance music, and the three-piece Pepper Rabbit stamped themselves as one of L.A.’s most promising up-and-comers when I saw them play last week at 3 Clubs. … Across town at the Viper Room, though, there’s an equally formidable lineup of local bands headed up Eastern Conference Champions, Foster the People, Imagine Dragons, and Moving Picture Show. … Also: Them Crooked Vultures at Club Nokia; Holly Golightly at Spaceland; Run Through the Desert at the Troubadour; Benji Hughes and Craig Wedren at the Bootleg Theater; Actress and Ballerina Black at the Silverlake Lounge; A Fine Frenzy at Largo; Nina Storey at the Hotel Cafe; Jason Heath & the Greedy Souls at Molly Malone’s; and Liz Pappademas at Echo Curio
