Indie-rock trio Hemmingbirds make Chicago their home base, and the band — Yoo Soo Kim, Zach Benkowski and Timothy Cap — is working on the follow-up to full-length albums they released in 2010 and 2012. Hemmingbirds have some talented friends who’ve migrated west from the Windy City, and they are responsible for darkly funny video for the new single “Mess of Things.” In the clip, a living skeleton blows off his girlfriend to go partying with three buddies. Messy things ensue. The video, directed by Daniel J. Clark star, was written by (and stars) Megan Green, Joe Kwaczala, Joe McAdam and Chris Stephens, who are members of comedy troupe The Wheel Show. If you like the laughs, they have a series on IFC.com titled “Does Dave Know We’re Here?” Meanwhile, pop open a cold one and rest your bones.
