Although Red Bull’s “30 Days In L.A.” series always packs in good crowds during their month-long event, choosing which show to attend was not an easy task on Wednesday night. With Kendrick Lamar was at the Wiltern and Leon Bridges at the Theatre at Ace Hotel, would Tinashe, the rising R&B-pop princess, conquer the night as if she were up against no one else?

As it turns out, yes.

The 22-year-old singer, born Tinashe Jorgenson Kachingwe, did that and more for a sold-out crowd at the Regent Theater.

She took the stage in a very Aaliayh-esque top and bottom combo and proceeded to perform her party anthems “All Hands On Deck,” “2 On” and even a cover of Major Lazer’s “Lean On.” Tinashe proved a to be a well-rounded performer with the swagger to complement her talent. With choreography that would make K-Pop stars faint but make Janet Jackson proud, Tinashe’s vocals never once wavered.

Confetti showered the crowd during “Dollar Signs,” a collaboration with Calvin Harris from his 2014 album. And she even brought down the house by singing an acoustic rendition of her new single “Player,” which will be on her forthcoming album “Joyride.”

Noting that this was a hometown show, the former model (and Crescenta Valley high School graduate) graciously thanked all her longtime supporters.

Gabriel Garzon-Montano and POVI opened the night.
