Inspired and the Sleep

Inspired and the Sleep are a psych-pop outfit from San Diego built around the collaboration between singer-songwriter Max Greenhalgh and multi-instrumentalist Bryce Outcault. They released their latest EP, “Eyelid Kid,” in the fall, and — speaking of inspired — turned to London-based Australian Robert Crispe to craft the music video for the song “Die Slow.” The stop-animation video is a surrealist trip through the seas, skies and mind’s eye, and probably our favorite commentary on the work comes from the blog of the filmmaker himself: “#thiswilltakeforever,” he hash-tagged while at work on it. ‘I wanted this to feel hand made,” says Crispe, who worked on the video over the course of one year. “I wanted to give it scale as well as find a point of difference within the stop motion genre.” Indeed, using the brightly colored paper cutouts, he animated 3,762 frames, all captured on camera using no post-production.
