It is indeed a “Beautiful Thing.” Unveiling a 7-minute track with backwards-guitars, drummer Reni and bassist Mani in lock-step on the groove, and frontman Ian Brown whispering about crucifixion, the Stone Roses are back. After releasing the just-OK “All For One” last month, the new song — a bit reminiscent of “Daybreak” from their divisive-among-fans second album, 1995’s “Second Coming” — feels like the sound of a band who may really end up being able to pull off the rare feat of a great “reunion album.” Now how about a Los Angeles show, lads? All is forgiven for Coachella 2013. “Beautiful Thing,” out today digitally, will be released on limited-edition 12-inch vinyl on July 22.
