Ramesh Srivastava has spent the six years since the demise of indie favorites Voxtrot (2003-2010) making music under the name Ramesh. His expansive 2014 full-length “The King” should have gotten more attention than it did, but he’s been back at work on a new release, and growing his sound even more. Two of Ramesh’s new teaser songs carry the DNA of some post-punk greats: “Redemption” throbs over an insistent bass line before breaking into some cathartic shoegazing; “Wilderness of the Heart” recalls the anthemic atmospherics, not to mention the breathlessly yearning vocals, of the U.K.’s British Sea Power, with the Austin-based singer-songwriter lamenting how “everything falls apart / without your love.” If back in the day you liked Voxtrot for their big emotional flourishes, you’ll like Ramesh all grown up.
